Mark Followill is a sports broadcaster and play-by-play announcer for the Dallas Mavericks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He also serves as a play-by-play announcer for soccer on Fox Sports. Followill was born on August 18, 1970, in the United States. He graduated from Indiana University-Bloomington in 1992 with a degree in broadcast journalism. He began his broadcasting career as a sports anchor for KTXS-TV in Abilene, Texas, before working for several different television stations and radio networks. In 2001, he joined the Mavericks broadcasting team as a pre-game, halftime, and post-game sideline reporter and was later promoted to the play-by-play position in 2005. In addition to his work with the Mavericks and Fox Sports, he also serves as a broadcaster for the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament and the U.S. Open Tennis Championships. Followill has also won several awards for his broadcasting work, including an Emmy Award for his coverage of the Mavericks' 2011 NBA championship.
